Job Description
USSOCOM's mission is to Provide fully capable Special Operations Forces (SOF) to defend the United States and its interests and synchronize planning for global operations against terrorist networks. As a member of our team, you will partner with SOF military and civilian members to directly support this mission by providing world-class Information Technology services and support that connect over 60,000 users around the world. Shift work is required to support operations. The candidate chosen for this position will primarily work 12 hours per day, 6 days per week on one of two daily shifts (days and evenings).It is important to be available to work any shift/designated hours required to include nights, weekends and holidays. Job DescriptionThe Cable/Infrastructure technician requires excellent problem-solving and customer serviceskills, as well as the ability to terminate, test and troubleshoot secure/non-secure voice, video,data, and radio frequency cable infrastructure. Requires relevant training, as well as hands-onexperience working with cable infrastructure. Typical Duties•Installing new cable•Terminating and testing new cable•Testing and troubleshooting faulty cable•Cross-Connecting circuits using patch panels•Reporting current status via ticketing system•Maintaining space cleanliness•Following all safety and quality standards, codes and industry best practices•Reading and comprehending blueprints and building documentation•Working at heights, off of a ladder and in confined spaces•Lifting up to 50 pounds and using appropriate equipment to move heavier items•Operating vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders and test equipment. Required Clearance: TS/SCI Required Experience: 4 years of hands-on experience working with cable infrastructureRequired Certification: Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.•Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Installer 2 (Copper)•BICSI Installer 2 (Optical Fiber)Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Certifications: DOD 8570 IAT Level II or higher Essential FunctionsWork Environment•Work will be performed inside a large facility or outdoors and in inclement weather conditions. Work assignments vary based on client requirements. Position could require some night and weekend work. Physical Requirements•Climbing, working at heights and in small confined spaces such as under raised floors. Must be able to stoop, kneel or crouch for long periods of time. Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperature than standard office environmental conditions. Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Equipment and Machines•Operating vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ladders and test equipment.•General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.Attendance•Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).•On-Call or after hours support may be requiredTravel•Continental and Oversees travel may be required.
