Mission StatementUSSOCOM's mission is to Provide fully capable Special Operations Forces (SOF) to defend the United States and its interests and synchronize planning for global operations against terrorist networks. As a member of our team, you will partner with SOF military and civilian members to directly support this mission by providing world-class Information Technology services and support that connect over 60,000 users around the world. Job DescriptionCandidates for Satellite Planner shall be responsible for providing technical and operational support, as well as subject matter expertise, for Frequency Division Multiple Accesses (FDMA), Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA), Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Tactical Satellite (TACSAT), INMARSAT Broadband Global Area Network (BGAN), Global Broadcast Satellite (GBS), High-Performance Waveform (HPW), and other satellite communication (SATCOM) networks. Candidates shall be directly involved in configuring networks, monitoring systems, activating remote terminals, as well as tracking and resolving SATCOM incident reports and problems related to baseband, intermediate frequency (IF), and RF communications. Candidates must have expert knowledge of satellite ground station equipment and how to interface it with terrestrial systems (e.g., Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) gateways and other telephony systems). Must also demonstrate the ability to plan and implement hybrid networks (e.g., terrestrial, satellite, and fiber). Provide subject matter expertise in the theory associated with both commercial and tactical military satellite RF bands (e.g., L,C,X,Ku,and Ka), have knowledge and experience with commercial and tactical military satellite technology architectures, standards, systems, hardware and software. Should have experience creating, analyzing, and processing SARs, GARs, SAAs, GAAs, TSRs, and TSOs, knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) Communications Security (COMSEC) and familiarity with DoD trouble ticketing systems (e.g., Remedy).Typical Duties•Analyze Satellite Access Requests (SARs), Gateway Access Requests (GARs), Satellite Access Authorizations (SAAs), Gateway Access Authorizations (GAAs), Telecommunication Service Requests (TSRs), Telecommunication Service Orders (TSOs), Transmission Plans, and other documentation to determine SATCOM configuration requirements and alternatives •Report the results of Analysis to the Government as required.•Utilize Government-provided tools and applications to develop network diagrams and cuts sheets based on their analyses•provide daily status reports equipment, network availability, and network utilization using Government-provided tools and applications•enter outage and restoral information into the Governments trouble management system. An inside environment may be a cubicle (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting). Work assignments vary based on client requirements. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.Equipment and Machines•General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment. Servers, switches, routers and other computer equipment that supports the network environment.Attendance•Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).•On-Call or after hours support may be requiredTravel•Continental and Oversees travel may be required.
